Beware of “Another Gospel”,
I finished reading my bible cover to cover, and my eyes have been opened to the greatest danger in the Christian faith. Beware of those preaching “another gospel”. “For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” (2 Corinthians 11:4)
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:21-23)
Many “Christians” and “Christian churches” claim the name of “Jesus” but is it the same Jesus of the Holy Bible?
Let’s take a look at some example of religions, faiths, christians, churches and denominations that claim they are “saved bible believing people.”
The Jehovah Witnesses’ claim the name of Jesus but deny his bodily resurrection…sounds to me like a different Jesus than who is described in the Holy Scriptures. “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. (1 Corinthians 15:3-6)
The Mormans claim the name of Jesus but claim that Lucifer is the brother of Jesus and that someday we will all be “gods” of our own planet…sounds to me like a different Jesus than who is described in God’s Word.” “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” (Revelation 12:9) Which is in complete contrast to the character of Jesus Christ “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began,” (Titus 1:2)
That teachings of Catholicism is that we must do penance to earn our way to heaven but the bible teaches us that Jesus Christ did the work for us and imputes his righteousness unto us if we have obeyed the commandment of the gospel “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved..” (Romans 10:9)
Pentecostal denominations often hold the belief that to be “saved” you must repent of ALL sins…and that if you fall back into “sin” that have lost your salvation. Well that my friends is “another gospel” and is a thinly veiled works salvation. If we could turn from all sins and stop sinning…then why did Jesus (our Savior/Redeemer) live the perfect life and die on the cross? Beware of false gospels like this for how subtly deceptive they are. Read your bible carefully. When God commands us to “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” The biblical definition of “repent” is to denounce all false beliefs and false gods and put all of your trust, faith or belief on the Lord Jesus Christ of the Holy Bible.
I could go on and on and on and on. Our Lord and Savior very clearly states “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)
Very few ‘Christians” understand the true Gospel (see Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Corinthians 15, John 3:16-18, John 3:18, Romans 4) and VERY FEW will preach that it is by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, that once saved always saved, your salvation is gift of God, (and by definition of gift it can not be worked for or purchased or it would no longer be a gift) it is eternal life, that it happens in the blink of an eye that you are quickened from death to life. “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” (Romans 8:11)
So why all the confusion? “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15:9-10) These different religions, faiths, christians, churches and denominations all share one thing in common. “…teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Be reading your bible daily and you won’t fall for the deception of a “Jesus” that shares no characteristics or nature of The Jesus Christ described in God’s Word . “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
The Gospel is simple and so is Christianity. From the beginning, the middle and to the end it’s always been about The Lord Jesus Christ. Just be sure your faith is in the Jesus Christ of the Bible and not of your own imagination. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
Beware of those preaching “another gospel!” (See Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Revelations 20:14-15, Revelations 21:8, Romans 5:8, Acts 16:31, John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 1:12, John 3:1-7, John 1:29, John 3:13).
