I was thinking at around this time of year parents are always telling their kids you better be good or you will end up on Santa’s naughty list. Now the parents really don’t mean it because, they eventually give their kids something nice for Christmas. After all they must have done something good at some point. Most parents will not leave their children without some kind of gift under the tree.
But the real truth is that everyone of us is on the naughty list and I don’t mean just a “little naughty.” I mean a godless, sinful, darkness of sin evil. That is what the scripture says in Romans 3:10 & 23. “As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one…..all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” In other words we are all wicked sinners. We all do wrong and we are all on the naughty list and on this list there is a lot more at stake then some gifts.
We were doomed to condemnation, “ But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.” God knew we were sinners, he knew we were evil and sinful and yet he sent his Son to die for our sins and redeem us. Not because we had a little good but, because he loves sinners and he died to get us off the naughty list.
Thank God for your deliverance from the sinful naughty list that leads to damnation. Thanks for the peace that comes from knowing him.
