Plant and Watering to His Glory

In one of our recent Bible studies we were looking at 1 Corinthians 3:4-9

4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human? 5 What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. 9 For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.

I want to call your attention to Paul’s reference to Paul planted and Apollos watered but God gives the growth.  What Paul is conveying to us is everybody has a part in the Gospel. Everybody has a part in service to God. We may plant and another may water the Gospel but, in the end God will give the increase. It doesn’t matter that your part is. What matters is you’re doing your part. We were discussing that several of our people are doing their part right now. They are doing what they do best and from this they minister to the glory of God.

As the Pastor I’m challenging everyone to step up and do what God is leading them to do that they might grow more in Christ and glorify God which is our purpose. Our Biblical mandate is to equip our people to plant and water where they are using their gifts effectively. Because if this strategic move we are seeing people blessing other in our music ministry. We are launching a Mentoring ministry to men coming out of jail and  seeing people connect with other  because they reach out with hospitality. All of this is from that mid set of doing the work of the ministry and not caring who does the planting or the reaping but, rather glorifying God where each person is right now.
